Novel Talents and XP Soft Cap
Novel Talents
Every 100 XP spent on non-novel talents allows you to create one Novel talent.
- The first novel talent will cost 20 XP and will be approximately equivalent in strength to a Rank 1 talent.
- The second novel talent will cost 25 XP and will be approximately equivalent in strength to a Rank 2 talent.
- The third novel talent will cost 30 XP and will be approximately equivalent in strength to a Rank 3 talent.
XP spent toward Novel talents does count toward XP benchmarks for the purpose of gaining HP. Novel talents will cost the same regardless of whether the player has reached the XP Soft Cap.
Novel talents are created in collaboration with the GMs so that players can come up with skills or abilities that uniquely suit their characters. This could be one skill thing the player keeps building upon, or three different skills or abilities. They can be based on a player’s class, kin, a modifier, a vibe, truly anything! The goal isn't to make something overpowered, just unique to the player.
When a player is ready to create a novel talent they’ll fill out this survey to give the GMs their ideas and the GMs will communicate with them when they have time to review.
XP Soft Cap
Players have a soft XP cap of 300 XP. After a player has spent 300 XP on non-novel talents, each talent they purchase (other than their novel talents) will cost double. Once a player has spent 60 more XP on non-novel talents (360 on non-novel talents total), each talent they purchase will cost triple.
